Trust Your Cost Reports

Attribute maps shared infrastructure costs to the teams that actually used them, using runtime data, at the workload level.

  • Attribute gives every stakeholder, from engineering teams to finance to executives, a consistent, accurate view they can act on.
  • Automatically allocate shared infrastructure costs across teams, workloads, and microservices
  • Identify the owner behind every cost spike instantly, including shared services and network traffic
  • Automated single source of truth of all of cloud resources and third party tools your team is using mapped by consumption.

Showback / chargeback in one line of code

Most FinOps teams are manually building allocation rules, chasing engineers, and writing spreadsheet logic to split shared costs. Attribute’s platform allows teams to skip the busywork.

  • Get every shared resource, attributed automatically. Whether compute, network, databases split by the workload, microservice, or job actually consuming them.
  • Define your own grouping logic and we’ll map every workload to its owner automatically, including resources that were never tagged.
  • Untagged resources, cross-AZ network traffic, and third-party SaaS tools are attributed to the consuming team via the eBPF sensor, not estimate. How the eBPF sensor works →

Why teams need accountability

When cloud costs have no owner, nothing changes. Engineers can’t optimize what they can’t see. Finance can’t enforce budgets they can’t allocate.

  • Know who owns every spike, immediately. See the team, the workload, and the resource, not a cloud account
  • Run showback and chargeback from day one. Enforce financial models the moment you deploy, not after months of tagging cleanup.
  • Benchmark spend across teams. Surface who’s improving, who’s regressing, and where engineering dollars are actually going.

Cloud costs, broken down

“What used to take hours of digging through AWS logs to decode a shared service bill now takes minutes in Attribute. Creating team-specific views has eliminated repetitive manual work and enabled true self-service for our engineers.”

Stop digging. Start knowing

“Their tagless technology made it extremely easy to overcome the data blindspots we had, and we can clearly discover and contextualize how each service or customer utilizes cloud resources, helping us make informed decisions rapidly.”

Ready to implement fair chargeback?

Why does cloud showback fail without accurate cost attribution?

Showback reports are only as trustworthy as the data behind them. If shared resources are split using fixed percentages or rough estimates, engineering teams dispute the numbers and stop acting on them. Accurate showback requires knowing how each team actually consumed shared infrastructure, not an approximation.

How does Attribute allocate shared infrastructure costs across teams?

Attribute’s eBPF sensor observes which workloads consume which resources at runtime, from compute, to network, databases or AI spend and attributes shared costs proportionally based on actual usage. A shared Kubernetes cluster, NAT gateway, or RDS instance is split according to who actually used it.

What is the business case for implementing chargeback?

When teams have no visibility into their cloud costs, there is no incentive to optimize. Chargeback creates direct financial accountability. Organizations that implement chargeback consistently see reductions in cloud waste because the people making architectural decisions are the same people responsible for the resulting bill. It turns cloud spend from a shared overhead line into a managed, attributable business cost.
